What is Chat Stories?
Chat Stories turns your chats into short audio stories. AI casts everyone in the chat, writes a story from your real messages in the genre you pick, and a cast of AI voices performs it with music.
How does it work?
Export a chat from your phone and open it at chatstories.net. Pick a genre and check who's who in the cast. We read the whole chat for its best saga and running jokes, and the story is written and recorded in a couple of minutes. Hear the start free, then unlock the rest and share it with the chat.
Which chats does it work with?
Any chat, from the group chat to you and your other half: family, best mates, flatmates or a partner. It works with WhatsApp chat exports from iPhone or Android and needs at least 50 messages. Not affiliated with WhatsApp or Meta.
How do I export a WhatsApp chat?
Open the chat, tap its name, then Export Chat (iPhone) or More → Export chat (Android). Choose Without Media and save or send the file to yourself. Our step-by-step guide shows each screen. Not affiliated with WhatsApp or Meta.
Is my chat stored?
No. Your chat is read on your phone and never stored on our servers. Phone numbers, emails, links, addresses and anything about passwords, PINs or bank details are removed on your device first, and only what's needed is sent to write the story: a selection of messages from across the chat and some anonymous counts (like who sends the most). We don't keep them.
What do you keep?
The finished script, the cast names and the audio, so you can listen again and share it. Free previews you don't unlock are deleted automatically after 90 days; unlocked stories stay until you delete them. Delete a story, or your whole account, from My stories whenever you like.
What genres are there?
Comedy, action, horror, romance, sci-fi, western, nature documentary and musical. There's a Halloween story until 1 November, and a Christmas Special from 1 December to 6 January.
What's free and what does it cost?
The start of every story is free: about a minute of a musical, or the first act of any other story. The rest unlocks for £1.99 for one story, £4.99 for 5 stories, or £5.99 for 7 stories plus the Christmas Special. Spare stories work on any chat, in any genre, and never expire.
How long is a story?
About two minutes. The start is free; unlocking plays the rest, which is the bigger part of the story.
Who can use it?
You need to be 16 or over to use Chat Stories, and 18 or over to buy stories. Only use chats you're part of, and share stories with the people in them.
Can I make more than one story from the same chat?
Yes. Your chat stays saved in your browser, so you can pick it again and try another genre without exporting it again.
Will the people in my chat mind?
Stories are affectionate and are written to avoid anything sensitive or embarrassing. You can delete any story at any time.
What if something goes wrong with my story?
Email hello@chatstories.net. If a story you paid for doesn't play or isn't right, we'll remake it or refund you.
