How it works

Your chats, as stories, in three steps. From the group chat to you and your other half, Chat Stories turns real messages into a short audio story, cast by AI and performed with music.

1. Export your chat

Open the chat on your phone and export it without media. You'll get a small file with the text of your messages. Using WhatsApp? Here's how to export a WhatsApp chat, step by step.

2. Pick a genre

Pick a genre, and we read the whole chat to find its best saga, running jokes and characters. We guess who's who (mum, brother, best mate) and give everyone a voice. Fix anything we got wrong and tap “That's me” for the starring role.

3. Hear the start free

The cast records your story in about a minute. The start is free: about a minute of a musical, or the first act of any other story. Unlock the rest to hear how it ends, then share the link with the chat. See what's free and what it costs.

The genres

Comedy, action, horror, romance, sci-fi and western
Nature documentary, with a very serious narrator
Musical: your chat as a stage show, with songs
Seasonal: Halloween until 1 November, and the Christmas Special from 1 December to 6 January

Your chat stays on your phone

Your chat is read on your phone and never stored on our servers. Before anything is sent, phone numbers, emails, links, addresses and anything about passwords or bank details are removed, and only what's needed to write the story is sent: a selection of messages from across the chat and some anonymous counts. We don't keep them. You can delete your stories whenever you like.
