Export a WhatsApp chat on iPhone

Open the chat and tap its name at the top.
Scroll down and tap Export Chat.
Choose Without Media.
Save it to Files, or send it to yourself.

Export a WhatsApp chat on Android

Open the chat and tap the three dots (⋮) in the top corner.
Tap More, then Export chat.
Choose Without Media.
Save the file, or send it to yourself.

Turn it into a story

Open chatstories.net on the same phone and choose the file you exported. Pick a genre (comedy, action, horror, romance, sci-fi, western, nature documentary or musical), check who's who in the cast, and in about a minute your chat comes back as a story, performed by a cast of AI voices with music.

It works with any chat: the group chat, the family chat, or one-to-one with your other half. Picture the flatmates' chat about the mystery of the missing last slice of pizza, retold as a horror film. (Made up, but you know the type.)

What happens to your chat

Your chat is read on your phone and never stored on our servers. Only what's needed to write the story is sent (a selection of messages from across the chat and some anonymous counts), with phone numbers, addresses and anything sensitive removed first. See what's free and what it costs.
